Job Description

Cimarron is seeking a leader to serve as the Avionics Software Integration Lab Lead for a new space program in either Kent, WA, Denver, CO, or Houston, TX.  Come join a diverse team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are committed to a culture of safety. Join Cimarron in supporting our customer to lower the cost of access to space, allowing millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.  This is a hybrid opportunity that will allow for some remote work and some work in an office in Houston, TX, Denver, CO, or Kent, WA. 

Key Duties

  • Lead the development of the Avionics Software Integration Lab Test Bed. 
  • Lead the planning, architecture, and coordination of the resources necessary to successfully design, build, certify, and execute testing on the test bed from initial development of hardware interfaces to integration of Flight fidelity hardware and software for system performance verification.
  • Collaborate with Avionics System leads to develop plans and demonstrate standalone functionality covering test article integration, test execution, and timely test result reporting.
  • Design and develop Special Test Equipment (STE) and integrate Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to simulate and stimulate Articles Under Test (AUTs) or capture AUT output and interface performance.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on the rapid acquisition of requisite GSE and STE defined by the team design, while leveraging standard commercial devices to the maximum extent possible.
  • Serve as a representative with direct customer interaction on laboratory operations and plans
  • Maintain and routinely report performance to plan on schedule, resources, cost, and performance metrics.
  • Serve as the leader of a collaborative, multi-organizational, and virtual team to develop integrated development and verification capability.
  • Create the extensible infrastructure to support the integration and testing of avionics and software in software in the loop (SIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL) avionics testbeds.
  • Implement the testbeds in rolling stages from concept architecture through brass board and onto System Interface Flight Hardware verification, meeting the highest technical standards.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience integrating software and hardware systems for evaluation.
  • Experience leading the development of special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related technical discipline.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Experience leading or supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems.
  • Experience with the development and execution of a large-scale verification of avionics on an autonomous spaceflight system.
  • Demonstrated experience with space system integration and testing.
  • Demonstrated experience with space system operations.
  • Experience with the development and execution of a large-scale verification of avionics on human-controlled spaceflight systems and Human in the Loop testing.
  • Experience with scripting in Python or a similar language.
  • Sound judgment, high energy, and is creative.
  • Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related technical discipline.
