Position Title: Greensboro Finance Manager

Reports To: Greensboro Office Director

Division: Immigration & Refugee Program+ (IRP+)

Department: Greensboro Immigration and Refugee Program

Job Location: Greensboro, NC

Salary: $68,000.00 - $76,000.00

Grade Level: 8

FLSA & Union Status: Exempt, Non-Bargaining

Primary Purpose:

The Finance Manager manages the overall and daily financial operations of the CWS Greensboro office at the local level. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Also, addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including financial reporting, reimbursements, audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborates closely and communicates with the CWS Finance Office on all financial matters affecting the operations of the CWS Greensboro office.
  • Review and analyze the comparative actual vs. budget report on a monthly and quarterly basis per program in the Greensboro office.
  • Maintain appropriate management and controls for utilization of cash and other funds used in the operation of the CWS Greensboro office.
  • Ensures that accounting sheets and Quick Books are up to date with purchases.
  • Oversees the writing and recording all office checks.
  • Responsible for oversight of Petty Cash account, disbursement of Petty Cash, and other banking transactions.
  • Completes applicable reimbursement requests each month for review by Greensboro Office Director.
  • Reviews direct client expenses and accounting sheets at key program milestones.
  • Work with and respond to USG and State agencies requesting information or status of reports pertaining to the finances in the CWS Greensboro Office. Maintain a tracking system to identify income and expenses.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely submission of, monthly, quarterly and year end reports. Ensure proper cash management and requirements are met.
  • Prepare and review new and existing program budgets for all programs and grants of the CWS Greensboro office. Responsible for the preparation and submissions of program budget revisions.
  • Provide direct supervision to the Greensboro Finance Administrative Assistant and assists in the development and implementation of new office procedures to enhance the workflow.
  • Meets monthly with the Office Director to determine program and staff allocations for the CWS Greensboro office.
  • Oversees compilation of credit card receipts and statements, staff expense reports and service fees; ensures CWS Elkhart Finance office receives these items in a timely manner.
  • Oversees receipt and processing of incoming donations.
  • Represent CWS/Greensboro at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned.


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance OR alternatively, Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent work experience.

Experience: Two years' work experience in nonprofit accounting/finance, with a strong working knowledge of nonprofit accounting and finance.

Other Skills:

  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and internet applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.

Special Requirements:

  • COVID Vaccine Required
  • Strong analytical computer skills especially with Microsoft EXCEL or similar software.
  • This position requires in-person work at the CWS Greensboro office
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and credit check
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
