Chubb's Washington DC Branch Office is currently seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its Commercial Insurance Specialty team.
Position Description / Primary Responsibilities:
Underwriter will manage the financial performance and underwriting for a book of middle market commercial insurance. Lines of business include package, automobile, umbrella, international, and workers' compensation.
Source and quote new business submissions from agents throughout the branch territory. This will often include co-travel with Branch or Commercial Insurance Manager and/or colleagues from other departments.
Responsibilities can include developing a specific set of agents while representing all lines of business in Commercial Insurance P&C for those agents.
Work collaboratively with a team of Underwriters, Underwriting Associates, Risk Engineers, Claim Examiners and Marketing.
We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated to succeed and is results oriented with solid business acumen.
Candidate will have experience in multi-line package underwriting. Strong sales and marketing skills are critical; able to position accounts and close deals. Have strong written and oral communication and desk management skills. Candidate must have the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners. Ability to Nurture Producer & Insured relations; demonstrate a proven track record of building relationships with agents and insureds through agency travel and visitation. Knowledge of marketing principles, pricing/rate strategies and how to apply them to attain underwriting profit, new business and quality producer management is essential. Candidate will need a solid background in risk analysis and experience with complex accounts. Candidate must possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process and partner effectively with an Underwriting Associate.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting experience
Job Grade commensurate with qualifications and experience
