We consider athletics to be an extension of our classrooms, as well as an opportunity to influence sports culture for Christ. Qualifications include the ability to connect well with student-athletes, be competent in the sport and maintain strong character and commitment for this level of coaching.

- Know and understand the skills and techniques of the sport
- Can effectively teach and communicate skills and techniques to student athletes

Christian Heritage School: Varsity Coach
Job Summary
The Coach teaches fundamental and advanced athletic skills and works with athletes to prepare them for competition. The Coach has knowledge and passion for their sport and values the development of their athletes on and off the field. The Coach helps each participating student achieve a higher level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and a desire to honor Christ in all they do.
The Varsity Coach will report to the Director of Athletics and collaborates with all program stakeholders: assistant coaches, student-athletes, faculty/staff, and parents. The position manages all aspects of a competitive program striving for New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Direct coaching responsibilities inclusive of program organization, practice planning, game preparation/management, and overall student-athlete development following Christian Heritage School mission statement and core values
- Support CHS commitment to student-athletes through prioritization of student academic success, character development, social-emotional learning, and involvement with the campus community-at-large
- Help shape athletes more fully into the image of Christ through (sport)
- Models good sportsmanship or Christlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators
- Effectively communicates with the athletic director, parents, athletes, and administrators
- Create a competitive, encouraging, and positive environment for all student-athletes
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury by communicating with the athletic trainer
- Provide end of season collection of information, uniforms, award winners and a season review
- Administrative tasks including but not limited update team rosters, track individual and team stats, provide game wrap-ups to Athletic Director to disseminate, utilize game filming, attend league, and conference meetings
- Provide guidance to student-athletes engaged in the NCAA recruitment process

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a stipend paid, seasonal position with part-time hours after school Monday through Friday and occasional weekend games.
Education, Experience & Skills Qualifications
Some experience as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school or college level preferred. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
- Strong desire to mentor student athletes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and supervise all levels of a sport program
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- Preferred ability to obtain appropriate licensing to transport students on activity vehicles to practices and games
