Job Description Worship/Music Coordinator First Baptist Church of Portland, Oregon is seeking an experienced professional to fill the part-time, 20 to 24 hours per week, leadership position of Worship / Music Coordinator, who has a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Worship / Music Coordinator, a key member of the staff team at First Baptist Church, will work closely with the Senior Pastor to plan and implement two weekly worship services — one contemporary and one traditional. Also included are special worship services, such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, denominational or community events, etc. The Worship / Music Coordinator will introduce updated musical styles and worship methods while honoring the church’s rich history of traditional music. To these ends, this position requires a person who is knowledgeable Biblically and musically. Other attributes to ensure success are organization; attention to detail; creativity; innovation; flexibility; and sensitivity to the needs of other staff and volunteers. This person must be able to lead worship using guitar, piano and/or other instruments, and be adept at public speaking. The Worship / Music Coordinator will report to the Senior Pastor, and directly supervise the Choir Director (11:00 traditional service), the Worship Accompanist (8:45 contemporary service) and two A/V Technicians. Worship / Music Coordinator receives two weeks paid vacation per calendar year, and, after 12 months of service, one week paid annual leave for the purpose of a continuing education event in the realm of worship or music. Parking in the church lot and a private office are provided. If qualified, applicants may opt to apply for the Choir Director position, as well, combining the two jobs into a 30 to 34 hours per week position.
