The Dispatch candidate will be responsible for monitoring, receiving and dispatching calls for Security and Fire emergency and non-emergency services in accordance to established guidelines. Must maintain radio contact with those entities. Will be responsible for collecting pertinent information and quickly and accurately typing that information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. The dispatcher will relay information in a timely manner to responding units. The dispatcher will be responsible for effectively monitoring multiple radio frequencies simultaneously. Must have the ability to multi-task. The dispatcher candidate will be responsible to answer emergency phones. The candidate will be Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certified and in good standing. (EMD training is provided in-house.) Will be responsible for providing approved Pre-Arrival Instructions according to policies and procedures. Candidate will be responsible for making required and requested notifications. The dispatcher candidate will be professional and courteous with all customer interactions in person, on the telephone and on the radio. The dispatcher candidate must be responsible for their own emotions and not allowing those emotions to interfere in sound decision making, especially during emergency events. Must be reliable and take personal pride in the work performed. Must maintain a positive attitude under stressful situations. Must have the ability to perform in a team environment. The candidate will be responsible for the successful operations of all CAD, telephone, alarm monitoring systems, radio, paging systems, weather alert systems and any other communications equipment found in the center.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must have keyboarding skills at a minimum of 35 WPM. Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) experience preferred.
Accredited High School Diploma/GED and typically 1 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT
WORK HOURS: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM
The dispatch center operates 24X7X365 and the dispatch candidate must be willing to work shift work, nights, weekends and holidays.
