The Heart Center Clinical Research Program in the Department of Cardiology is seeking a biostatistician to work on various single- and multi-center clinical trials and observational studies underway in the Department. The candidate would work under the direction of a senior Ph.D. biostatistician and would consult and collaborate with both clinical investigators (cardiologists, ICU clinicians, and psychologists) and associated research staff (data coordinating center project managers, research coordinators, and clinical coordinating center staff). Duties include development of statistical reports, DSMB reports, and data summarization; performance of standard statistical and graphical analyses as well as application of advanced statistical and data science methodology; contributing to manuscript preparation, grant writing, and presentations; and participation in study design, forms development, database development and testing, data quality and checking activities, and related research activities.
Some examples of current research projects include the following: The Department is serving as the Data Coordinating center for a for a new NIH-funded multicenter randomized clinical trial in pediatric critical care to be conducted at over 30 sites in the U.S. and Canada (SHIPSS, Stress Hydrocortisone in Pediatric Septic Shock, https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03401398). In a series of observational studies, we are evaluating adolescents and young adults following infant heart surgery with a battery of tests from neuropsychology, psychiatry, and magnetic resonance imaging as well as genetic testing. The Department is running a longitudinal registry of neurodevelopmental outcomes in infants and young children following their heart surgery. We also serve as the Data Analysis Center for a new research and quality improvement enterprise involving neurodevelopmental outcomes following infant heart surgery with an international collaboration of sites through the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative, https://www.cardiacneuro.org/.
Requirements:

+ Work requires basic knowledge of study design, conduct, and analysis typically acquired through the completion of a Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a closely related field. Proficiency in R, SAS, and/or other statistical computing skills is desired.
+ Attention to detail, good team work, and communication skills are essential. Interest from applicants with all levels of experience is welcome.
