After School Teacher (Club Leader ? Full Time)

CDS seeks a dynamic full-time club leader for the after care program. Reporting to the Extended Program Director, the teacher is responsible for developing and leading engaging after school club activities for students in grades K ? 4 and supporting the operation of the program. In addition, during school-day hours, the teacher will support school day staff with supervising recess and lunch. To learn more about CDS, visit our website at www.cds-sf.org.
CDS is located on a beautiful, secluded half-acre in the Mission near Dolores Park. Our after care program employs the use of indoor classrooms, environmental ed. kitchen, wood chips area and climbing structure, farm and garden (featuring four chickens and two sheep!), and a play yard among the largest of independent schools in the city.
The position runs until the close of school in mid-June 2020.
Daily schedule is 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday ? Friday (hours may vary slightly). Employment (often full-time) during summer program and vacation camps is optional as well.
+ 9:55 - 10:30 Kindergarten recess
+ 10:15 - 10:45 1st/2nd grade recess
+ 11 - 11:45 3rd/4th grade lunch
+ 11:45 - 12:30 Transitional kindergarten/kindergarten lunch
+ 12:30 - 1:15 1st/2nd grade lunch
+ 1:15 - 1:35 3rd/4th grade recess
+ 2:00 ? 2:30 After care teachers arrive to meet, prepare snack, and gather supplies
+ 2:30 ? 3:45 Fresh Air Time: Students are picked up in classrooms, signed into after school, provided snack and given supervised free play on the yard.
+ 3:45 ? 4:45 First Hour: Students in K-4 choose from a daily menu of clubs led by after school teachers. Middle school students attend Study Hall.
+ 4:45 ? 5:45 Second Hour: Students choose between additional clubs, supervised free play or Fun Hall. Chores: Yard cleanup. Putting away the sheep and chickens. Closing down computers and locking up.
Most after school clubs run twice a week, Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. They typically last for two or so months before we change the menu and introduce something new.
+ Team: Collaborate, inspire, support, problem-solve and communicate with after school team members and the school day teachers.
+ Activities: Plan and implement exciting, child-centered after school clubs and special events. Supervise snack, free play and program transitions.
+ Children: Provide a safe physical and emotional environment for all students. Encourage children to take initiative to solve problems. Help children think, investigate, ask questions and laugh. Strive to meet each child?s individual needs.
+ Families: Collaborate with families toward their child?s success.

Educational Requirement/office skills
+ Have at least an associate?s degree (AA) or equivalent credit
+ Be proficient in technology: email, word processing, photos, etc.
$19-22/hr depending on education and experience, plus benefits. 40 hours/week.
