Senior Staff Accountant (Remote)

Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions such as preparing and sending invoices to funder in accordance with agreement requirements and billing deadline, recognizing monthly revenue, reconciliating general ledger accounts, preparing monthly financial statements and reports. In addition, the Senior Staff Accountant will be involved in the full accounts payable cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities
Revenue recognition and Accounts Receivable
- Prepare monthly federal grants, fixed price, and temporary restricted revenue schedule.
- Familiar with revenue recognition standard (ASC 606)
- Create and maintain invoice templates in accordance with contract requirements.
- Responsible for preparing and mailing invoices to funders per contracts
- Review the supporting documentation needed (travel, labor, other direct costs) to accompany the invoices
- Post invoices and reconcile monthly revenue by project type
- Reconcile revenue to the general ledger and to the customer sub ledger.
- Request and review electronic ACH and wire transfers information from customer
Accounts Payable
- Be involved in the full accounts payable cycle from vendor set-up to payment
- Review vendors, consultants and subcontractors’ invoices for appropriate documentation and approval
- Process expenses charged to Child Trends credit cards and reconcile monthly credit cards statements.
- Reconcile A/P aging report to general ledger account
- Process invoice payments via ACH
General Ledger Accounts
- Prepare and maintain prepaids, fixed assets and deferred rent amortization schedules
- Reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
Financial Statements
- Perform an analysis of monthly accounting records of labor and other direct costs expenses.
- Conduct monthly and yearly financial statement analysis and report on variances
- Submit monthly closing package
Annual Audit
- Prepare schedules as requested by the auditors,
- Provide documentation and other information as needed to ensure an efficient audit process.
Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- At least 3 years of accounting experience
- At least 2-years of experience in a related occupation.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong Knowledge of GAAP, Government Contract and GSA Federal Travel Regulation
- Knowledge of revenue recognition standard ASC 606
- Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. Ability to work well with others and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
- Keen attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, and meeting deadlines.
- Experience working with Excel; Navision; or other accounting software; Outlook; Excel; Word.
