Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is seeking a Head of Strategy and Insights (HSI) for the California Initiative Next-Generation Digital Therapeutics (NGDT) program. The HSI will be responsible for general oversight and management of the NGDT program, which is being developed and operated through a three-year contract to CMI from the State of California.

The California Initiative, NGDT, is being launched to rapidly innovate mental health therapeutics and treatment response monitoring tools for children and adolescents using emerging technologies including augmented reality, virtual reality, and biometrics. Smartphone, web, and metaverse platforms will be the primary focus of the program, with potential explorations into wearable devices and other emerging technologies included as well. The NGDT will require creativity, imagination, and energy to develop, evaluate and scale novel technologies focused on mental health and learning disabilities. The HSI position provides the opportunity to engage with a broad range of clinicians, policy-makers, researchers, and community leaders.

Established in 2011, the CMI Research program plays a critical part in accelerating the pace of discovery in the neuroscience of child mental health and learning. The CMI scientific culture is defined by innovation, impact, breaking down research silos that slow progress, and the development of scalable solutions that achieve timely and appropriate diagnoses and interventions.

The Head of Strategy and Insights for the NGDT is expected to lead, influence, and inspire across teams and functions through clear storytelling and direction setting. The HSI will work with a core of diverse stakeholders (e.g., researchers, clinicians, educators, community representatives) to develop innovative strategies for engagement, user acquisition and feedback, and value creation through data insights and technology developed by the NGDT. As part of this process, the HSI will be responsible for overseeing the development and establishment of a process for strategy identification, evaluation and prioritization of candidate products to be created through the NGDT.

The HSI for the NGDT must have leadership experience and the ability to multi-task in a high-energy environment. Reporting to the VP of Research and the Program Director for the NGDT, this is an exempt, full-time position.

  • Facilitate effective evaluation of NGDT activities, informing a culture of learning and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Develop processes for partnering with collaborators (e.g., researchers, clinicians); translate and prioritize individual collaborator needs against broader platform development.
