Job Summary

Provide Functional Family Therapy® and other assigned services to families and clients. Employees are expected to model through their behaviors and attitudes the values that reflect and are consistent with those outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual, ethics agreement, training materials, and policies of the agency. All employees are encouraged to develop professional networks in their state and local communities that help to further family centered practice.  Certification in Functional Family Therapy (FFT) training program is required to receive designation in advanced FFT positions. Additional certification may be required in order to provide FFT for specialty populations or programs.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Effective joining with the family and initiation of services including provision of services with families defined as resistant or oppositional to services
  • Provision of family and / or individual sessions per the requirements of the assigned treatment model
  • Provision of the services with a variance of days / hours designed to respond to the client/family needs/schedule
  • Observation of appropriate personal and professional boundaries and adhere to FCT and professional code of ethics
  • Provision of a service or treatment plan that is based on an effective assessment, as well as provision of a closure and aftercare plan for each family/client 
  • Provision of the quantity of sessions assessed as needed and appropriately authorized
  • Maintain required confidentiality regarding client case materials in compliance with IFCS and HIPAA standards
  • Provide to the collateral the required documents per the specific contract/grant requirements or state/federal standards
  • Provide all the initiation of services requirements of the referral agency and FFT
  • Maintain regular contact and respond to all calls and inquiries from the referring collateral
  • Participate in, and guide when appropriate, the monthly meeting or collateral team meeting (Child and Family Team or other designated contract expectation)
  • Provide the prediction of and the education regarding the developmental stages and the behaviors expected as result of an internal value change treatment process
  • Provide guidance for the family in their interaction with referring agencies, schools, and other community organizations as needed
  • Participate and support the FFT peer development process by respectfully addressing areas of concern for peer FFT’s professional development and team performance issues
  • Staff each case monthly in team or individual supervision using the MIGS (FCT staffing process)
  • Follow the FCT conflict resolution process of direct, honest, and respectful communication

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required - Master's degree preferred 
  • Ability to maintain flexibility in scheduling due to the nature of the workflow and level of responsibility – some evenings and weekends may be required
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record clearance
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar, and the ability to apply this to writing letters, treatment plans, etc
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities, including documentation, meeting with clients for the required hours each week, attending staff meetings and supervision, and other tasks as assigned
