Mechanical Designer

CheckSum is seeking a full-time Mechanical Designer to join its design team in the production of electronic test equipment fixtures.

CheckSum is a leading supplier of board test systems and part programming solutions. Job Description

Primary responsibility will be to create designs and technical drawings for mechanical devices and equipment. You will work closely with engineers and other professionals to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of products.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical design of test fixtures unique to a specific circuit board using an industry standard CAM software, Test Sight Developer
  • Communicate with electrical engineers and wiring technicians to integrate electrical components with the mechanical and physical features of a fixture
  • Utilize basic 2D CAD software to generate detailed drawings for assembly team
  • Utilize 3D software to create 3D models of fixture parts and assemblies

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required, some college courses in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with demonstrated design capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Creative thinker with ability to visualize future results
  • Strong analytical skills and an enthusiasm for solving problems
  • Must be a team player with ability to work independently
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong PC skills including experience with CAD
  • Basic knowledge of FEA and strain analysis preferred
