Our world-class team in Chicago, IL is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting.

As a Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting your responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the preparation/review of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A and prepare other relevant parts of the financial statements. This will also include responsibility for the compilation of supporting documents for the external auditors.
  • Prepare the statement of cash flows, stockholders’ roll forward, EPS calculation, stock-based compensation accounting schedules, leasing schedules and maintain a weekly cash flow forecast.
  • In conjunction with the CAO work on the documents for capital market transactions which will include S-1s, offering memorandums, responses to SEC comment letters and covenant compliance certificates.
  • Assist the sustainability team and CAO in the development of ESG metrics and the annual ESG report.
  • Develop and implement a best-in-class ICFR structure for external reporting.
  • Serve as the technical resource on GAAP and SEC rules and regulations and engage with business partners to ensure all relevant accounting issues and complex transactions are identified; and assist in structuring transactions to maximize operating and accounting goals.
  • Support the finance team, accounting team and sustainability team with timely and insightful research, documentation, and guidance on technical accounting and sustainability reporting matters, including complex and non-standard transactions.
  • Follow new and emerging accounting issues, promulgated by the FASB and SEC, to proactively analyze the impact of the new standards on the Company’s results and financial position. Additionally, develop implementation plans for all new standards in a timely manner.

A strong Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting will possess:

  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting; including Big 4 public accounting experience and experience with financial reporting in a public company with complex transactions.
  • Extensive experience with complex and significant business combinations, M&A transactions and purchase accounting, Pro Forma financial statements, accounting policy alignment, ESG reporting and goodwill impairment testing.
  • Extensive knowledge of SEC Reporting, US GAAP and internal control processes required; some international exposure is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and interpret accounting guidance, draft accounting memos to support conclusions, and coordinate with external auditors to ensure alignment on positions.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently and as committed; able to multi-task and adapt quickly to a dynamic work environment.
