Job Description Summary
The Student Government Association (SGA), as part of the greater academic community, is the representative voice of the student body. It is the deliberate and consultative body vested with the power to advocate for students at all University levels, including, but not limited to: the Board of Trustees, the President of the University, the Chancellor, Faculty Senate, and the administrative offices of the University, and the general public.
The Executive Assistant: Public Relations will provide general public relations and marketing support to SGA. The Executive Assistant: Public Relations will work with the Director of Public Relations in marketing SGA, maintaining SGA public materials, and creating graphics for any SGA events, town halls, etc. The Executive Assistant: Public Relations will have a key role in ensuring the student body is receiving correct and relevant information about SGA. This is a non-elected, paid position.
Responsibilities

  • To assist with the distribution of marketing and promotional materials
  • To create necessary SGA graphics and/or flyers for upcoming events, town halls, etc.
  • To ensure the Argyros Forum bulletin board is updated weekly
  • To edit and proofread SGA's bi-weekly newsletter
  • To assist with pre- and post-event and organization tabling set up and clean up
  • To write blurb-style stories for the Chapman events newsletter as necessary
  • To assist and maintain the SGA website, including updating senator information
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Available to work up to 15 hours per week during normal business hours for the duration of the academic year
  • Strong graphic design skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Background in writing, social media, and/or event planning- Minimum of a 2.5 GPA
Desired Qualifications
  • Federal Work Study award preferred, but not required
  • Some knowledge of Student Government Association preferred
  • Public Relations, Graphic Design or Communications major/minor preferred, but not required
