Central Valley Indian Health is seeking a hard-working, reliable Medical Receptionist. This position provides front desk services, collects data related to patient services, and schedules/ cancels patient appointments. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for HIPAA Compliance and providing excellent customer service.
A. Maintain a positive image of CVIH by greeting clients in a professional manner and see to their comfort and sense of well being during their clinic visit; inform patients of any changes that could delay their appointment/visit.
B. Register patients, obtains all baseline data from patients that are necessary for the patient visit and follow-up appointment, update the medical record, with insurance information, updated copy of insurance in record, eligibility, HIPPA notice, Health History, and yearly consent. Update personal information in electronic medical record, including address, phone number, pharmacy etc.
C. Collect co-pays, deductibles, share of cost and sliding fee payments, records and balances daily cash receipts and properly routes to the Fiscal Department.
D. Coordinate all patient appointments for medical services by sign-in sheet, as required by the guidelines of CVIH. Copy of sign-in sheet to be sent to RPMS and Billing Department daily.
E. Notify patient by mailing letters that they have missed their appointment and they need to be rescheduled.
F. Maintain patient confidentiality according to CVIH standards and protocols.
G. Responsible for verifying eligibility for PRC, Direct Care, Insurances, Medi-Cal before patient can be seen. Copies of any changes in methods of payments must be changed in the electronic medical record. Insurance card is to be scanned into the electronic medical record.
H. Communicate in a friendly and professional manner. Provide excellent customer service to all employees, board members, and outside contacts.
I. Responsible for updating patient’s demographics, insurance and community in RPMS.
J. Check out patient’s by printing a visit summary and scheduling any needed follow up appointments.
K. Any other duties assigned to the employee by CVIH management.
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. One year experience in medical office administration, medical front office or health care administration.
3. Knowledge of office skills, typing, filing, medical terminology, and computer literate for word processing.
4. Valid CPR Certificate.
5. A valid California Drivers License and Clean DMV record.
6. Requires and awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs a socioeconomic needs; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
7. “Safety Sensitive” positions are subject to random drug testing and are required as a condition of continued employment.
