The Project Engineer position at our Commercial Door, Frame, and Hardware company is a key part of our premier Projects Team. They are involved in all communication on commercial construction projects assigned to them, and most typically are responsible for all material getting to the job sites accurately and on time. The Project Engineer works closely with the Senior Project Management team while learning the specifics of the division 8 (commercial doors, frames, and hardware) trade. This position is a prerequisite and is a natural progression into Project Manager status. We are a growing company and the opportunity to learn the technical field of doors, frames, and hardware is available now. Some of the specific responsibilities are below:
Successful completion of Contract jobs (Estimated work) includes the following responsibilities:
Submittals, shop drawings and Change Orders
Materials ordering, and fulfillment
Manages logistics of materials out of the warehouse and to the client's job site
Labels and readies materials for delivery
Facilitates delivery
Day to day follow up and communication with clients, Project Supervisors, Project Managers and company vendors
Relationship building and management support of client Projects and their field Teams
Excellent communication
Follow through
Essential Functions of the Job:
Working closely with Sr. PM’s to gain knowledge of Hollow Metal and Wood doors, frames and Architectural Hardware
Troubleshoot problems with Sr PM’s on projects, both in office and jobsite, with the ability to spot potential deficiencies before they become issues
Work with project superintendent to manage project schedule and ensure that client expectations are met or exceeded
Work with project estimator to select vendors and determine cost effectiveness.
Manage all project communication including delivery logs, submittals, change orders, RFI, memorandums, and project revisions to ensure the PM’s review the necessary documents and act accordingly
Consult with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, resolve issues.
Accompany Sr PM’s when they meet with clients to review and explain project costs, extras and change orders
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Degrees in Construction Management are encouraged to apply
Knowledge of scheduling, job site realities, and logistics
Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to read and understand Plans and Specifications.
Ability to work independently as a key component in a Team oriented atmosphere and manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with tight deadlines
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Ability to prioritize job responsibilities.
