Job Description

 Position Overview

This position is responsible for all New England plant operations, maintenance, and related activities for the Central Rivers Power fleet. This position will lead a team of supervisors and technicians, and is responsible for the management and control of the assets in the New England area, including managing safety, operations, and maintenance, ensuring compliance, and developing and maintaining excellent relationships with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the safe, compliant, and efficient operations of the assets
  • Oversees operational systems, processes, and procedures while identifying areas for improvement
  • Identifies and anticipates operational risks and provides strategic solutions
  • Understand and optimize the expenditures within the area of responsibility
  • Participate as a key player in budget development, long-term planning, project status reporting, and improvement and growth initiatives
  • Works closely with General Manager on special departmental projects
  • Oversees and reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics
  • Identifies trends and assesses opportunities to improve processes and execution
  • Collaborates with other support team members to ensure safe, compliance and efficient operations, uphold company values, and empower the work force
  • Establishes and maintains credible, professional relationships with regulators, stakeholder, vendors, and other internal departments
  • Solicits and responds to feedback while gaining commitment and support
  • Stays up to date on industry regulations, trends, and technology
  • Works closely with management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions within the company are being properly executed in accordance with best practices
  • Position reports to the General Manager

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in management, business administration, technical management, information systems, engineering or related fields
  • 7 to 10 years of experience related to Hydro power plant maintenance including emphasis on Operations and/or Maintenance Management
  • Prior personnel management experience required
  • Must be a self-starter and able to manage workload and have the flexibility to change as conditions change without day to day oversight or management
  • Detailed knowledge of the Hydro technology and energy generation business
  • Proven experience in achieving continuous improvement through project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence others, with strong negotiating skills
  • Ability to interpret legal documents and agreements
  • Understanding of the ISO-NE market and operations system requirements a plus
  • Up to 40% travel required within asset area
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, and Power Point
  • Valid state Driver’s License
