Job Purpose

Coordinate inventory purchasing, warehousing, distribution, or financial forecasting activities to improve accuracy and customer focus. Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet inventory distribution needs. Supervise the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.

Job Responsibilities

Logistics:

  • Confer with General Manager to forecast demand or create supply procedures that ensure availability and control of inventory per location.
  • Ensure that pricing structures adequately reflect logistics plan and cost.
  • Collaborate with others to integrate processes, such as sales, order management, or accounting.


Warehousing:
  • Monitor inventory levels in warehouse facilities to determine how to increase stock turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service. Conduct physical counts, reconciling with data storage system.
  • Document physical supply per location, track and evaluate delivery information or other technology solutions to improve distribution, storage, or inventory.
  • Compute reporting metrics, such as on-time delivery rates, order fulfillment rates, inventory turns and inventory accuracy.
  • Develop and direct programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of warehouses.
  • Monitor the space layout plan to ensure it continues to meet company standards.
  • Ensure warehouse organization by item and locations:
    • Documents and keeps accurate records of warehouse activities.
    • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layout; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Responsible for the implementation of OSHA, FIFO requirements, procedures, and standards.
  • Identify opportunities to reuse or recycle materials to minimize waste.

Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
  • Monitor the flow of vehicles or inventory, using Web-based logistics information systems to track vehicles or containers.
  • Route or reroute drivers in real-time with remote route navigation software, satellite linkup systems, or global positioning systems (GPS) to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Communicate with or monitor providers, such as carriers like Island Wide, other customs brokers, or trucking companies.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, systems, or customer issues.

Job Requirements
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, logistic, industrial engineering, or related course from an accredited school.
  • Job Experience - 5 years of related work experience.
  • Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, inventory management, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Economics and Accounting - Knowledge of economic and inventory accounting principles and practices.
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
