The mission of the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is to monitor the Massachusetts health care system and to provide reliable information and meaningful analysis for those seeking to improve health care quality, affordability, access, and outcomes.. CHIA also acts as a principal repository for health care data collected by the state and is responsible for key data assets such as the Massachusetts All-Payer Claims Database and the Massachusetts Acute Hospital Case Mix Databases. CHIA is seeking a motivated business systems analyst intern who is ready to apply knowledge of business practices and processes in a fast-paced, real-world environment.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Business Requirements and Test and working alongside the senior business systems analyst, the intern will assist in creating requirements documents such as BRD’s and User Stories, writing supporting documentation such as process documents and user documentation and making recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency. This will be a valuable experience for any student pursuing a career in business administration. This position will have the opportunity to participate in shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with experienced and accomplished business professionals.
The internship will be conducted remotely and potentially in our Boston office, with regular meetings conducted via Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams, and expected hourly rate is $20 - $27/hour. Primary Job Responsibilities Working with the Senior Business Analyst, help identify, and document requirements used by in-house development teams to design and build software applications for business units, healthcare providers, and payers. Assist in analyzing business goals, objectives, and needs.
Perform research and analysis in support of CHIA’s business operations. Assist in resolving business issues. As needed, aid in the testing of products and the preparation of end-user documentation/manuals.
May perform additional projects upon request. Preferred Qualifications And Skills Actively enrolled in a degree program majoring in Business Administration or related field. Experience with Microsoft Office.
Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, written, and documentation skills. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
