Our manufacturing client is seeking a Director of Human Resources to manage the daily operations of the HR department and play a critical role in the senior management team. This financially strong organization has 45+ years in business and serves a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, and medical to name a few. The company is privately held and is long-term growth-oriented, including exceptional growth in the past 5 years.


The Director of Human Resources will report to the President and will play a critical role in the aggressive growth and success of the company. The office is located in the Springfield, OH region.


Specific responsibilities include:


  • Participate with the Senior Management Team on a daily basis. Activities include a daily meeting, weekly operations and sales review, strategic planning, board meetings, etc.
  • Provide leadership, direction, strategy, and execution for the company regarding all Human Resource issues including recruiting and hiring, employee retention, training, benefits, employee performance appraisal, and employee feedback.
  • Manage the daily operation of the Human Resources department consisting of an HR Generalist and full-time Trainer.
  • Aggressively establish and execute short, intermediate, and long-term programs to recruit, hire, train, and retain enough production employees to allow the company to double in size over 3 years.
  • Establish salary and hourly Employee Development Programs to improve key leadership and technical skills.
  • Actively work with the Senior Management Team to develop succession plans for several positions in the manager and V.P. levels of the organization.
  • Work directly on resolving human resources-related issues for the hourly and salary workforce.
  • Ensure duties, responsibilities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
  • Facilitate communication and problem solving between departments. Make recommendations for improving the effectiveness of policies and procedures.
  • Identify, develop, and coordinate training needs and procedures.
  • Monitor, direct, and appraise the performance of direct reports. Participates in the Performance Appraisal process for managers and key salary employees.




  • BS in a Human Resource-related field
  • Minimum 3 years in a Director or lead HR position
  • Experience in a business environment that is rapidly growing
  • Proven track record in recruiting, hiring, and retaining salary and hourly workforce
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Results-oriented
