Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Stream Project Manager, the Senior IT Business Analyst will support the Transition to Operations (TTO) sub-stream on the ERP Program. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders and Cenovus' chosen System Integrator to facilitate the identification of requirements, recommended solutions, change impact assessments and future state decisions to ensure that ERP support needs are met. This role will help champion the concepts of simplification, standardization, centralization, and automation to ensure the implementation of an integrated, robust ERP solution which supports the future of Cenovus.

Work Environment:

This is a 1 year contract, with a possibility of an extension based in our downtown Calgary office.

  • Collaborate with other TTO BAs, cross-functional business and IT stakeholders and the System Integrator to design an optimal and cost-effective ERP support solution, by:
    • Understanding the current state of your assigned ERP support scope, including but not limited to define:
      • Engagement models with various business and IT groups,
      • Support processes and procedures,
      • ERP governance model,
      • SLA and KPI reporting
  • Contributeto the design of the target state for your assigned ERP support scope, ensuring the solution design meets the support requirements and desired organizational outcomes
  • Identify and assessthe tasks required to transition from the current state to the target state
  • Provide insight and analysis, and share working knowledge of ERP support scope processes, people, systems, and data to help achieve the target state and expected outcomes
  • Identify and engage with Cenovus subject matter experts for input into the various Transition to Operations activities and deliverables
  • Attend and facilitate working sessions impacting your assigned ERP support scope
  • Represent your assigned ERP support scope in various cross-functional Transition to Operations working sessions
  • Act as a change agent throughout the ERP program
  • Assist with timely and regular communication related to the ERP program to stakeholders
  • Provide input into and review various program artefacts
  • Assist project leadership in identifying, analyzing, mitigating and monitoring risks and issues

Desired Skills:
  • Oil and Gas industry sector experience
  • A large-scale ERP solution delivery / SAP implementation
  • HANA logical warehouse environment
  • Request Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management


  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field (IT or Business)
  • 7+ years in a Business Analyst role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with business and technical people, negotiation and strong workshop facilitation skills
  • Able to rapidly and independently acquire skills and information, open minded and pragmatic, adaptable and change ready, flexible
  • Able to analyze a business or IT domain, build and maintain strong working stakeholder relationships, engage professionally with managers / leaders and peers, consult and challenge the stakeholders
  • Proficient in business problem identification, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, requirement gathering and analysis, and process mapping
  • Self-starter that can independently identify and manage tasks, time and competing priorities
  • Collaborates well in a team environment, manages conflict, supports team success, contributes to a positive team dynamic
  • Able to identify, analyze, mitigate, and monitor risks and issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Excel, Word and PowerPoint
