Cenikor is a non-profit organization and one of the largest substance abuse treatment centers in the nation. We are currently seeking a Full-time Compliance Assistant in our Corporate location in Houston, Texas.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Compliance Assistant is responsible for monitoring documentation and measuring timeliness to ensure compliance with third party payer contractual obligations and reporting information to management.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8a - 5p or 7a - 4p.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepare compliance audit data by compiling and analyzing internal and external information including coordinating and evaluating administrative and clinical quality assurance initiatives and other risk management activities.
Communicate audit information to management by researching and analyzing data.
Prepare compliance reports to ensure high-quality client care in response to clinical quality improvement needs.
Ensure clinical compliance reviews are completed according to procedures and within timelines.
Track metrics, including key performance indicators and compliance risks for reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Support departments by collecting and coordinating internal compliance data with quality auditors and various departments.
Provide administrative support by implementing systems, procedures, and policies; completing projects in support of compliance audits.
Offer assistance by answering questions and responding to requests.
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Enhance compliance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Uphold the core principles of Cenikor?s culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.
Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters and refer questionable issues to supervisor.
Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with the non-exempt functions as defined in this job description.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to prioritize to organize time effectively; must work well under deadline pressure
Possess strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate professionally with related departments within the foundation.
Excellent knowledge of state and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management- data gathering and analysis and desktop publishing required
Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals, including staff, clients,
Ability to serve both internal and external customers and agencies.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a highly professional manner

Education:
Associate's Degree required
Billing, Coding or Medical Record education from AAPC or AHIMA (preferred)
Certification:
Coding or Billing Certification preferred
RHIT (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Tech) preferred
Experience:
One to Two years of compliance reporting or related experience preferred.
Experience with non-profit, substance abuse, health care, mental health or education is preferred.
