Position Purpose
Provides a safe and secure living environment for victims of domestic violence. Screen potential participants for admissions. Assist and monitor the well-being of participants. Participate in answering the crisis line. Complete tasks related to the Program. Maintain control over shelter food and supplies. Assist with activities and groups. Transport participants, as needed. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Participates in the intake screening, and maintaining progress notes of treatment plans
- Promotes the safety and confidentiality of participants and shelter facility
- Provide protection, food and other basic needs with dignity and respect to program participants
- Provide modeling in the areas of childcare, nutrition, housekeeping and personal care
- Utilize the "Empowerment Model" of behavior in working with the participants
- Provide information, resources and referrals
- Provides crisis intervention counseling to Hotline callers
- Collaborates and networks with other agencies in the coordination of services
- Promote the Domestic Violence Program through community awareness on domestic violence
- Adhere to the Arizona Service Standards for Domestic Violence Service Providers per the scope of work
- Accommodate flexible program scheduling and be open to change
- Adhere to licensure regulations, contract compliances and program requirements
- Maintain and stock all program forms
- Assist with the completion program reports
- May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business
Minimum Qualifications
Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.
- High School / GED
- Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Valid Arizona Driver License, minimum standard 39 month MVR report, and proof of vehicle insurance
- Obtain CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers Certificate, and TB clearance
- Proven strong communication skills oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar and tone
- Ability to lift 35 pounds 20%
- Ability to stoop, bend, climb and reach
- Pass the Safe Food Handlers course within a six month period
Desired Qualifications
- Associates Degree in related field
- Previous directly related experience
- Bilingual English / Spanish, verbal and written
