School Based Child & Family Therapist - High School

Responsible for providing Clinical Mental Health Services to children and families in the High School setting. Responsibilities will include intakes, diagnosis, child and family therapy, groups, case management, and other mental health treatment services to identified children and families in the most appropriate environment.

  • Provision of direct mental health Services to children and families and the required documentation
  • Provide intake assessment, diagnosis to identified children and families in a culturally competent manner within the most appropriate environment including school, home, and agency office
  • Develop Clinical Treatment plans which focus on client strengths, culture, needs, and goas within the briefest time frame for successful achievement
  • Complete required paperwork for intakes, treatment plans, and ongoing services in accordance with the agency Mental Health guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain encounters and productivity of 60% of reportable/ billable services
  • Travel from site to site and/or perform necessary home visits for the purpose of providing direct treatment, consultation, and collaborations for clients
  • Attend IEP meetings as needed
  • Participate in ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement to assure the services provided demonstrate best practice standards and meet all contractual requirements
  • Actively participate in both group and individual supervision, and staff meetings as requested and consistent with Agency guidelines
  • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team staffing with other therapists
  • Staff cases which require specialist consultations and psychiatric consultation as required
  • Work closely with school staff
  • Collaborate with physicians and other community resources
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with the West Valley School District, community mental health providers, primary care, pediatric health care providers, and initiate referrals to community resources when appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or other Behavioral Sciences, required. LICSW or LMHC strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience with children and families in a professional outpatient setting or similar setting

Special Skills:

  • Operate from a strengths-based perspective with clear child/family voice
  • Strong child and family assessment skills and knowledge
  • Ability to work effectively with parents and caregivers, conduct home visits, and behavior stabilization
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to provide service in a culturally competent manner
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member within a school setting
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred, but not required

Licensure, Registration, Certification:

  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and minimum required liability insurance
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration
  • Child Mental Health Specialist, other specialist designations preferred
