Driftless Pass is looking to fill the position of Special Education Support Specialist for 15-28 hours a week between the times of 8:30am and 6:00pm Monday - Friday (no weekends). Applications for this position must be received by Aug. 24th.
In this position you would be working one on one with students in the form of mentoring, assisting in school work, working on life skills, and behavior management. In addition, you may be assisting with their vocational skills and activities and helping them grow cognitively and socially.
Our special education program is run though a private school specializing in one on one work and would look very appealing on resumes for education majors or minors.
Drivers License, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required.
Rate: starting at $11.25 – 14.00 based on education and experience.
SKILL AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a) Education-Bachelor’s Degree in human services field such as psychology, education, social work, or recreation preferred.
b) Experience with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
c) Knowledgeable of and competent with a variety of positive, proactive behavior management techniques.
d) Exhibits leadership qualities.
e) Displays compassion and respect to others.
f) Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Charities.

b) Provides one on one direction and support to students based on IEP.
c) Ability to learn and implement student’s behavior plan and any changes made to the behavior plan.
d) Ability to adapt to students needs as they change.
e) Maintains accurate, logs, units of service, and behavior support plans.
f) Uses a variety of positive, proactive behavior management techniques.
g) Conducts self in professional manner, without supervision in working with clients, parents, teachers and other professionals in the community.
h) Communicates with coordinator as changes develop with students.
i) Provides transportation for students when necessary.
j) Other duties, as appropriate, and assigned by supervisor.
a) Must be prepared for physical interaction with students.
b) May spend 50%-75% of the day on feet or moving.
c) Ability to move quickly to prevent a student from leaving a designated area.
d) Must be comfortable using physical restraint upon receiving CPI training.
