ASME Code Welder with H.A. Phillips & Co.

H. A. Phillips & Co. is a 90 year old manufacturing company located in DeKalb, Il specializing in control valves and ASME pressure vessels for the Industrial Refrigeration market.

We are hiring an experienced ASME Code Welder with 3+ years in welding/pipefitting/fabrication.

POSITION SUMMARY: Fabricates ASME code vessels and assemblies per H. A. Phillips & Co. specifications and/or quality plans, by reading CAD drawings, planning and doing the layout, cutting nozzle holes and using manual and semi-automatic welding. Welds and silver solders component parts for various products.

Qualifications Include:

  • Proficient and ASME Code qualified to do manual and semi-automatic welding of ASME code vessels.
  • Able to read CAD drawings and plan layout of pressure vessels.
  • Capable of planning and fabricating vessel assemblies.
  • Basic/Intermediate Math Skills
  • Strong work ethic a MUST

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Reads CAD drawings and plans the layout of vessel heads and shells.
  • Follows instructions and adheres to hold points listed on Inspection Traveler forms.
  • Cuts holes for nozzles and preps & welds pressure vessel and assembly components using the following processes and procedures: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW and SAW. (The Welder must be certified in accordance with the ASME Code by means of plate and/or pipe test.)
  • Using information on the CAD drawings, inspects visually for quality and size of welds and dimensional correctness. All defects are to be repaired before removing vessel from welding area after Quality Assurance final inspection sign-off.
  • Accurately completes production job time cards.
  • Communicates any unsafe department conditions to the Lead Welder and/or President.
  • Works with a minimum amount of supervision.
