This is a full time position (40 hours/week) working out of Cascadia's administration office in NE Portland and various other Cascadia locations in the Portland Metro area. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, day shifts.
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADN) is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and is responsible for hiring, training and development and care and compliance audits, in order to improve client care and quality of services provided by nursing services. With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving mental health services, it is required the Nursing Services Director understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve. The Nursing Services Director is a champion for Cascadia's "Whole Health Care" mission and ensures that Cascadia's vision and values are reflected in the nursing services provided in all of Cascadia programs.

* Oversight / direct supervision of Nursing Managers, which includes providing general encouragement, support, regular supervision, and evaluations.
* Recruitment and retention of nursing staff, including establishment of annual staffing plan for all Cascadia Nursing Services and compensatory and non-compensatory retention strategies for the nursing staff, in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
* Support Nursing Program Managers to determine staffing requirements, recruit, hire and train staff.
* Establish work plans and priorities for Nursing Management staff members, assess their progress, and take corrective action as needed. Conduct regular supervision meetings, and annual performance reviews for Nursing Management staff members.
* Collaborates with Nursing Leadership team to coordinate site cross training for RN's, create and update relevant RN trainings, always working towards assurance of quality nursing services.
* Audit documentation for accuracy and completion as required, associated with billing, assessment, treatment, residents' progress and other activities.
* Integrates best practices into the day to day operations including; Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing.
* Records and distributes meeting minutes for relevant meetings including staff meetings, and clinical meetings.
* Coordinates regular monthly RN meetings.
* Responsible for operating in compliance of medical services regulations, policies and requirements as well as other applicable guidelines and internal policies and standards.
* Respect and honor client rights and responsibilities and demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics.
* Assist in crisis situations as appropriate, following emergency protocols/procedures and coordinating with the treatment team with interventions which support a trauma informed environment for clients/residents and staff.
* Demonstrate responsibility for safety of consumers and/or residents, staff and property; is familiar with fire regulations and evacuation procedures.
* Provides input on all relevant documentation and procedural requirements.
* Complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis as indicated in the licensing requirements for the facility as well as agency requirements. Attend seminars, training and other educational opportunities in order to develop professional skills and abilities.
* Is able to perform CPR, First Aid, and properly use AED equipment. CPR/ First Aid certifications are required and must remain current.
* Perform other duties as assigned. The Assistant Director of Nursing, along with other nursing management, is expected to complete on-floor / in health center shifts if needed due to PTO, vacation, or other staffing vacancies.
* Other duties as assigned.
This position will remain open for a minimum of 30 days
* Bachelor degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or an Associate degree in Nursing with five years of full time work experience in the behavioral health field.
* An active, unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse License and CPR/First Aid Certification.
* Must demonstrate the competencies to become credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) as outlined in OAR 309-016-0005.
* A minimum of two years of clinical experience providing inpatient or outpatient services is preferred.
* A minimum of two years in a supervisor or management position
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of medical conditions, medications, and the contexts of care most commonly encountered by people with a severe and persistent mental illness
* Understanding of the physiological basis for the nursing care delivered
* Proficiency in using computers and technology (including EMR software)
* Enter and retrieve data
* Prepare simple reports
Ability to commute to various Cascadia sites and community locations as needed.
