Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer serves as a technical resource, and ensures proper operations about network architecture, planning, implementation, maintenance, and problem resolution for all data resources within Carter Express/Carter Logistics. This position examines/monitors/manages all data resources/networks to determine whether the business needs are being met and plans or recommends system changes/expansion based on this information. This position will be a part of an on-call rotation after getting accustomed to environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Serves as a technical resource, and ensures proper operations about network architecture, planning, implementation, maintenance, and problem resolution for all data resources within Carter Express/Carter Logistics.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

•         Experience with managing networks, prefer experience with Meraki and Cisco

•         Experience with Windows Server and Windows Desktop environments, prefer experience with Server 2016 and Windows 10

•         Microsoft Office 365 account provisioning, de-provisioning and maintenance

•         Experience with PowerShell preferred

•         Experience with Group Policy, Active Directory, MS DNS, MS DHCP

•         Strong Troubleshooting skills

•         Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop/laptop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware peripherals and configuring systems and applications

•         File share maintenance and security

•         User device provisioning, including laptop, desktop and mobile, desktop phone

•         Office printer proactive maintenance and repair

•         Act as an escalation point for advanced or difficult help requests to IT Operations / Management

•         Respond to telephone calls (both during business hours and after hours as required), email and help desk requests for technical support

•         Excellent written and verbal communication skills English and Spanish (Required)

•         Able to develop professional relationships with peers and end-users for a strong team environment.

•         Will work with local IT manager and serve as backup for Mexico operations.

•         20% to 25% travel required to US sites and Mexico.

•         Interest in Devops a plus

Education and Experience

•         Associate degree in IT-Related field or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required.

•         2 years minimum equivalent work experience as a Help Desk Technical Specialist (Level I and II)

Pay: $19.00 to $21.00 an hour

Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm, Some OT and on-call.
