Job Description

 The Senior Facilities Manager maintains the physical facilities and food service operations of the agency in accordance with safety and sanitation requirements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS

1.      Ensure that all program models and bricks-and-mortar sites have the necessary equipment and supplies. Ensure that routine maintenance and repairs of all essential equipment have been completed in order to operate sites at an optimal level.

2.      Create comprehensive systems and schedules for equipment maintenance, building repairs and cleaning cycles.

3.       Plan, coordinate and supervise work of outside vendors/contractors; security, grounds, HVAC, electrical, carpentry and plumbing as needed.

4.      Perform preventive maintenance and repair, such as changing air filters, light ballasts, faucet washers, loose screws, classroom equipment, etc.

5.      Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing systems.

6.      Supervise major janitorial projects including ensuring personnel is in place and supplies are available.

7.      Manage relationships with key vendors and partners in the areas of food service, IT and maintenance.

8.      Ensure competitive pricing and procurement of services.

9.      Negotiate and oversee the implementation of facility services proposals/ contracts as it relates to vendor, recycling, and waste management contracts and contractors.

10.   Create a sustainable supply chain. Manage the ordering of supplies across the organization on a weekly basis (groceries, food, formula, and other supplies)

11.   Manage the Maintenance staff and Food Service Manager.

12.  Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Follows procedures as required by licensing and funding agencies (including but not limited to Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards, City of Chicago Health Requirements for Day Care Centers, Head Start Performance Standards, Chicago Public School requirements, Carole Robertson Center for Learning Policies and Procedures and quality standards as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children)

 

EDUCATION

 

The Senior Facilities Manager shall possess at least a High School diploma and some college level coursework. Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and qualifying professional experience.

 

Valid driver’s license required.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

·         Five years administrative and management experience.

·         Ability to communicate (written and orally) effectively with and relate to diverse internal and external constituents.

·         . Demonstrated ability to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions daily and under pressure.

 

·         Thorough knowledge of facility operations, the practices utilized in the operation and maintenance of boiler, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical, carpentry and plumbing systems.

·         Ability to conduct preventive maintenance methods and techniques.

·         Ability to plan, coordinate, communicate with, and supervise work by outside contractors.

·         Ability to anticipate need for and plan for future capital improvements.

·         Ability to work evenings and weekends

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

 

·         Requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods.

·         Requires physical agility to attend to the physical needs and activity levels of the position.

·         Ability to lift at least 80 pounds.

·         Ability to enter building crawl spaces and climb ladders.
