About the Role

Caribou is looking for a seasoned growth leader with a proven track record for scaling businesses through strategic customer acquisition and retention tactics. The VP, Growth Marketing will oversee our performance marketing, lifecycle, and partner marketing teams with the goal of acquiring, activating and retaining customers across our product offerings. You will be responsible for all customer acquisition across mobile, web, and offline paid media, leading our Growth team to optimize our existing strategies while expanding into new channels and markets. You will report directly into the SVP of Marketing and collaborate closely with the executive leadership. The VP, Growth Marketing will:

  • Lead Caribou's growth org, which includes performance, lifecycle, and partner marketing teams, supporting functional leaders in setting a cohesive growth strategy 
  • Partner with Data, Engineering and Product to improve Caribou's understanding of Paid performance and to unlock additional opportunities to scale
  • Liaise with Data and Finance to create forecast models and ensure programs align with financial plans and forecasts, reporting out on performance regularly
  • Create a test-and-learn culture of constant data-based experimentation across existing and new programs / channels; build financial forecasts that articulate the expected cost and ROI for experiments.
  • Provide thought leadership, strategic insight, and clear communication (written and verbal) to your team and the organization on the company's growth strategy.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, product, partners, and account management to deliver a world class customer experience.
  • Establish and manage budgets for growth marketing programs to ensure spend is allocated to the highest-performing marketing programs; manage budgets and deliverables of third-party agencies, freelancers and contractors.
  • Represent and report out on Growth metrics in leadership and executive meetings
  • Collaborate with Content and Brand Marketing teams on campaigns to introduce Caribou to new audiences
  • Support multi-channel attribution efforts and prepare the team / organization for changes in trackable efforts as a "cookie-less" future approaches

This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC; Denver, CO; Austin, TX. Alternatively, the role may be based remotely within the U.S. This role requires attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. Caribou currently requires that all personnel and visitors to any of its offices are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.  As a result, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be eligible for this position (subject to any exemptions or accommodations due to medical or religious reasons).

About You

You are data-driven and have a track record of taking successful new bets on growth. You are an empathetic and cross-functional leader that embodies resourcefulness, high EQ, curiosity, and a "can-do" attitude. You have managed significant media budgets successfully against performance targets. You have direct media buying expertise as well as experience in growth strategies more broadly. You are excited to take bigger, calculated risks to drive new growth strategies. You have successfully built, mentored, motivated, and retained world-class growth teams. You have:

  • 15+ years of D2C marketing experience, preferably in performance and/or lifecycle marketing
  • Experience building and supervising teams
  • Proven success in driving growth, preferably in a startup environment
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Strong relationship building, modeling and data analytic skills

  • Competitive compensation: $225-300K annual salary
