Job Title:Senior Technical Writer

Reports To:Manager, Technology Shared Services

Job Description:

The Senior Technical Writer focuses on producing high-quality technical documentation and diagrams for CareMetx. They create and manage knowledge assets. The Technical Writer must do the following:

  • Capture and leverage corporate knowledge.
  • Produce accurate, timely, easy to access documents.
  • Use optimum information designs to create quality documents and diagrams.
  • Define repeatable, accountable workflow processes and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Expedite customer delivery process and build customer satisfaction.
  • Complete assigned tasks according to established deadlines and company policies and procedures.
  • Helps communicate project status and deadlines with customers and internal partners.
  • Review requirements to comply with SOC compliance and company standards.
  • Enable standard, scalable products for growth and profit.

The Technical Writer has excellent communication skills and a technical background that enables them to interact effectively with Developers, Technology Shared Services, Software Quality Assurance, Solutions Architects, Product Managers, Release Managers, Program Managers and Compliance Managers. They have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and peers, and quickly grasp new technical concepts with enthusiasm. The Technical Writer is also expected to gain knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology and is preferred pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience.


Primary Responsibilities

The Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Technical Writer are the following:

  • Create and maintain business, systems, and functional documents for internal and external audiences.
  • Create and maintain Stand Operating Procedures (SOPs), System Configuration Guides, API Specifications and System Integration Guides, and other types of content as needed.
  • Create system and workflow diagrams using software including Lucidchart.
  • Manage content in documentation repositories including Confluence and Ensur.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date documentation for external Audits.
  • Help define and update CareMetx documentation strategy.
  • Adapt to changing document specifications and manage multi-author/multi-reviewer documentation processes.
  • Help improve processes for how content is created, delivered, and maintained.
  • Work closely with the subject matter experts, advocating for product and documentation innovation on behalf of the customer.
  • Own documentation projects from start to finish, working with limited supervision.
  • Perform all responsibilities within CareMetx process guidelines, corporate branding guidelines, IT policies and directives at or above the CareMetx performance and evaluation standards.
  • Utilize time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities to handle multiple and parallel projects, deliverables while working both independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Maintain user and patient privacy and protect CareMetx by keeping information confidential based on current regulations.
  • Deliver high-quality product documentation for the organization that helps both internal and external customers understand and use the product.
  • Proactively improve the level of knowledge about CareMetx products, services, and customers.
  • Work with Technology leaders and Technology's organizational partners to create central document & training repositories that are curated and managed.

Qualifications

The Qualifications of the Senior Technical Writer are the following:

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • At least 10 years in a technical writing role, producing internal and external content on highly technical subjects.
  • Degree in Technical Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field, with proven, advanced skills in grammar, and technical editing and writing.
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or Healthcare industry.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:

  • Experience working side by side with development and testing teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Experience in Agile Development methodologies.
  • Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Team player who can effectively work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Fundamental knowledge of information technology, networking, or software development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop expertise in the products and services that you document by using them as a customer would.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Competencies:

  • Experience working side by side with development and testing teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a startup atmosphere.
  • A minimum of ten years in a technical writing role supporting software developers or SMEs.
  • Experience using programs such as JIRA, Confluence, Ensur, SharePoint, and Lucidchart.
  • Experience working side by side with development and testing teams throughout the development lifecycle.
