Process Engineer Ceramics / Glass

Our client a prominent global industry leader in their respective manufacturing sector is actively seeking a Process Engineer to perform the manufacturing engineering responsibilities at their facility located in NW Ohio. The Process Engineer will be involved cradle to grave with design and new product launch. The Process Engineer will also review manufacturing processes and rewrite to meet tolerance stacks, tooling and gauging requirements, while performing machine capability studies and authorizing release of equipment to the manufacturing business division. This position is open due to a recent promotion and is considered a critical fill by the NA Director of Engineering.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates designing & development of new tooling machine retrofits/upgrades for new product launches including automation, fixture changes, etc.
  • Research needed equipment, obtain quotes, writes requisition and tracks receipt and order status.
  • Responsible for developing and controlling machine set-up instruction for assigned process area. Set-up instructions that relate to tool change procedures, fixture changeover, etc.
  • Review processes and rewrite to meet tolerance stacks, tooling and gauging requirements. Performs machine capability studies and authorizes release of equipment to manufacturing.
  • Research needed equipment, obtain quotes, writes requisition and tracks receipt and order status.
  • Champion development of structured hands-on training programs for all processing equipment (new and existing).
  • Monitors on-going performance of equipment by maintaining daily contact with manufacturing and reviewing statistical performance with the quality engineer and develops and maintains machine production rates.
  • Provides manufacturing support by problem solving, continuous improvement activity, customer corrective actions, customer driven engineering changes on the floor and Kaizen events
  • Works with quality engineers to develop process control plans and FMEA’s.

Requirements:

  • BSME or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • 5 + years engineering experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable in PLC, HMI, & Vision systems.
  • Research needed equipment, obtain quotes, writes requisition.
  • Knowledgeable in AIAG Measurement Systems Analysis, PPAP, and SPC.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensions and tolerance), VA/VE and FMEA
  • Experience with IATF-16949
