Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Capitol Care is currently looking to hire a licensed Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a DEA/CDS registration. This person will assist the Psychiatrist in assessing clients, implementing treatment plans, and prescribing medications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to the following: Organizes data concerning patient's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relatives, and other sources such as program staff. Examines patient to determine general physical condition. Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained. Determines nature and extent of mental disorder, and formulates treatment program. Treats or directs treatment of patient, utilizing variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. Reviews and prescribes medications for consumers, including obtaining informed consent and providing medication education. Will complete an initial psychiatric evaluation and will review it with the Capitol Care treatment team. Will provide initial Psychiatric Assessment as well as continue an ongoing psychiatric review as needed. Will see all members on caseload on an as needed basis with very little prompting or reminder. Will review, provide input, and sign and date all service and treatment plans as required. Will provide training to program staff on relative issues related to goals and objectives of the program, especially medication training. Will participate in case consultation meetings and respond to psychiatric service consultations as assigned by Clinical Director. Will consult with the Capitol Care staff as needed. Will provide input into program development and assure that psychiatric services meet accepted standards of medical practice. Will be directly affiliated with the program and assume professional responsibility for the treatment and services provided, while assuming that the treatment and services being provided are medically appropriate. Will supervise the treatment provided for each consumer, and assure all psychiatric and medical services provided by the program meets accepted standards of medical practice.
