Work assignments will occur at various locations, including the Village Theater, Summit on the Park, Canton Sports Center, Pheasant Run Golf Course, and the B.L.O.C.K.EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed) Plan, supervise and coordinate general recreational programs and activities as assignedCoordinate set-up, tear down, and clean up of programs and eventsResponsible for recruiting, interviewing, training, scheduling, and supervising part-time/seasonal recreational staff as directedResponsible for purchasing supplies and equipment for programs and activitiesEnsure safety rules, policies, regulations, and procedures are followed by the public and employeesPrepare information and reports for budgets, monthly and annual reports as applicableMaintain accurate program, activity, and equipment recordsResponsible for responding to, communicating, and documenting emergency situations and incidents, including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, Severe Weather, and Missing Child EventsResponsible for keeping abreast of community needs and current trends in the recreation area to ensure the delivery of quality customer service for program and activity participants and guestsWork with community organizations, groups, and individual citizens to promote recreation programs and eventsResponsible for interaction with participants, families, and staff members in a positive, professional, and friendly manner to ensure a high level of customer service and delivery of quality recreation programsEnsure proper ADA accommodations are met in the facilityInspect and prepare facilities and equipment for planned programs and events; report equipment damage to Building Attendant/Recreation SpecialistResponsible for scheduling staff to assigned programs, events, and campsRecruit instructors and evaluate programs from a customer service perspectiveCoordinate program entry and room reservations utilizing ActiveNet registration softwareAssist with developing, implementing, and maintaining ongoing enrichment classes for youth and adultsOperate Township vehicles, including a 12 passenger van while pulling a trailer, to transport program participants and supplies as assignedResponsible for enforcement of departmental rules and regulations, operating procedures, and policiesResponsible for working with vendors, instructors, and entertainment to ensure proper contracts are in order for servicesPerform other duties as requiredESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Minimum age of 18 years oldHigh School Diploma or GED requiredPrevious customer service experience required; supervisory experience preferredPrevious recreation experience working in a similar facility or program preferredMust possess a current, valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which include, but are not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired drivingStrong organizational and communication skills requiredAbility to operate a 12-passenger van equipped with a wheelchair lift, with the ability to tow a trailer behind the van as necessaryAbility to perform manual lifting and loading of program supplies and equipmentAbility to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public tactfully and courteouslyAbility to demonstrate techniques and skills associated with assigned programs and activitiesAbility to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient mannerSkill in organizing self and others; ability to self-start in discharging responsibilitiesAbility to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidaysThis is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours scheduled based on availability, division requirements, and within the confines of the budget.
