Job Description

$60k/yr.

1st Shift = 7am to 3:30pm

Summary:

  • The Junior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for advising, assisting, and improving manufacturing processes to promote efficient and economical utilization of personnel and facilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; mechanical or industrial engineering field preferred
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • Ability to review and analyze data for defect trends, determine root cause failures and implement corrective actions
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Working knowledge of all areas of assembly for printed wiring boards
  • Mechanical/machine programming experience for equipment used to assemble surface mount and thru-hold printed wiring boards
  • Knowledge of standard electronic contract manufacturing processes
  • Ability to review schematics and technical drawing requirements for mechanical/electrical assemblies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate and improve current manufacturing methodologies, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards
  • Confer with vendors and customers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts
  • Estimate production times and assist with planning staffing requirements and costs related to tooling in the production quotation process
  • Confer with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and production schedules to facilitate production processes
  • Analyze and plan workflow of surface mount, thru-hole printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Design, sketch, implement and document the utilization of specialty assembly tools
  • Configure and calibrate production equipment as necessary to support production needs
  • Troubleshoot common equipment failures
  • Repair equipment on the production floor using standard electrical and mechanical measuring equipment
  • Develop procedures per ISO/AS9100D/J-STD-001 standards
  • Manage and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, both electrical and mechanical
  • Assist with the creation or create production software programs for the SMT machines, AOI's or other production area equipment as required
  • Contact equipment manufacturers and suppliers for equipment troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment for replacement and evaluation of new equipment manufacturers as needed
  • Oversee and provide guidance on tasks associated with bonding adhesives, such as EP30AO and solder paste, and specialized processes, specifically conformal coating
  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality
  • Identify and evaluate new tools that allow each group to perform in the most efficient manner
  • Verify new and existing machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications and requirements
