Sr. Software Engineer

Our client is seeking Sr. Software Engineer (Database Development) to join their fast-growing engineering team. Reporting to the CTO, this key individual will be working on critical C++ projects in collaboration with a major partner and leader in Presto. This is a remote opportunity, the company is 100% remote in the U.S.  

This individual will have the opportunity to impact the development and adoption of the PrestoDB open-source project and community.

Responsibilities & Competencies:

• BSCS or related field; MSCS or related field preferred
• 5+ years' experience or PhD in distributed databases or distributed systems
• Black Belt level of expertise in C++ and Database Internals
• Competency in Java 8+ or equivalent system languages
• Expertise in relational and non-relational database management systems
• Expertise in open-source databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
• Passion and desire to drive innovation in the open-source data community
• Deep expertise in core software concepts (e.g. File systems, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, programming languages, etc.)
• Demonstrated track record taking system features through the phases of conceptualization, design, implementation, test, and deployment

  Pluses:

• Documented open-source contributions
• Hands-on experience with Presto
