Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY The Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) is seeking a Program Manager to lead the first psychosocial oncology support program on a Native American Reservation. The Program Manager is responsible for the leadership, development, administration and clinical oversight of the TCRHCC Cancer Support Community (CSC) program of psychosocial support for people impacted by cancer. TCRHCC is located within the Navajo Nation in Tuba City, AZ. Psychosocial services are provided in collaboration with the TCRHCC Specialty Clinic and House of Hope, a freestanding home-like location used for classes, groups and other activities specific to the TCRHCC CSC program. The Program Manager will partner with the TCRHCC Mental Health Department, Office of Native and Spiritual Medicine, tribal programs and local subject matter experts and volunteers in the delivery of services. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Considerable culturally appropriate judgement and innovative approaches are essential and required in interpreting and applying program guidelines. In collaboration with other CSC program staff and TCRHCC staff leadership, develops strategic goals and objectives as it relates to program delivery, reach and evaluation. Develops content for the CSC program calendar including recruiting and supervising workshop leaders and adjunct instructors, creating calendar descriptions, program flyers and regularly evaluate member satisfaction and facilitator and program effectiveness using workshop evaluations, and annual surveys. Facilitates a weekly support group and monthly networking groups, including crisis intervention and short-term counseling to members in distress as needed and with consideration to spiritual wellness and cultural sensitivity needs. Plans and implements regular social events for patients and cancer caregivers, including educational workshops and special programs. Employ a myriad of case management and psychosocial interventions to help patients and families manage the multidimensional impact of a cancer diagnosis. This management can range from distress and depression screening to assisting with transportation issues. Establishes and maintains administrative procedures for tracking and implementing member groups, newcomer meetings, educational workshops, mind-body programs, member social events and other relevant member-focused programs. IMPORTANT SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or a related public health field from an accredited institution. Licensure/Certification: Eligible for licensure in AZ as a mental health professional. Experience: Minimum one-year post-graduate, preferred. Some supervisory/management experience preferred. Knowledgeable about individual and family coping styles, resources, clinical interventions. OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Understanding of the impact of social determinants of health.
