Long Term Substitute Classroom Teacher, All Subjects
We are excited to return to in-person learning for some students in April and are looking for passionate and positive members of our community to work with our students who need them the most.
Candidates who hold a California teaching credential are eligible to teach any subject
All candidates must apply for a California Substitute Teacher Credential if you don’t have one already; CUHSD will reimburse for substitute-related credential fees up to $500.
The CBEST basic skills test requirement has been waived by the state of California (unless you attempted and failed all three sections of the CBEST on a previous attempt)
Long term subs will be able to provide preferences such as days, part-time or full-time, remote or in-person, and which campuses to which they would like to be assigned
Our goal is to find teachers who will commit to being a long term in person sub and who will be earning the top rate of $275/per day
The starting daily rate will be $210/day
In addition, CUHSD reimburses for all credentialing fees as it relates to this role (up tp $500)
What you will be doing
Under the direction of your campus principal and with guidance and support from other school leadership, you will provide a variety of services for students identified with targeted needs in order to help them meet performance standards.
By utilizing your unique skill set and previous experience, you can offer an unique perspective in order to truly have an impact on the success of students who are in need of your support.
Performance Responsibilities for the Long Term Substitute Teacher may include (but are not limited to):
Provide Instructional support by adhering to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by assisting with the understanding of assignments, information being presented and homework by leading small group work, one-on-one support and class instruction
Consultation with teacher(s) and other campus staff to assist in providing instructional, assessment and behavioral support, which will allow students with targeted needs meet their academic goals
Monitoring of students through weekly progress reports, taking attendance and documenting daily notes
Compliance: Follow school policies including compliance with all school regulations and policies, overseeing students outside of the classroom, ensuring classroom and work areas are kept clean and orderly and overseeing normal classroom rhythms and activities
Provide other supports for students as needed
What we are looking for:
Current California Teaching Credential, 30 Day Emergency Substitute Permit, or Proof of filing for a Emergency California Teaching Credential (Instructions here)
Belief that all students can succeed
Ability to take on initiative and be flexible and positive in a changing environment
Bilingual Spanish a plus
