Job Description



Pay: $250 - $300/week


  • Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp.
  • Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.
  • Dates: All Staff training begins mid-May. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.
  • Time: Camp K offers several sessions throughout the summer ranging from 4 days to 9 days. 
  • Staff Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. Camp sessions range from 4 days/3 nights to 9 days/8 nights throughout the summer. There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska Summer. 
  • Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building; as well as horseback riding and river raft trips in nearby areas. 



The Creative Arts Core Counselor provides oversight to the Camp K Creative Arts Program, which entails developing and teaching creative arts, i.e. arts & crafts, drama, singing, music, acting, etc. This position will give you the opportunity to plan and implement age appropriate activities consistent with camper's needs/abilities and promote, encourage, and demonstrate Kid Size Values of caring, striving and thriving. You'll collaborate with program leadership to identify camp needs, develop/implement successful programming and take part in evaluation of those programs. You'll have the chance to build and maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, visitors, camp staff, etc. while residing on the premises of Camp K in the Chugach National Forrest with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife, and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door! 


  • Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age, this is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Prior experience in creative arts instruction, including lesson planning, is required.
  • Prior experience working with youth, in a residential camp setting, is preferred.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License, preferred.
  • Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED Certification and Wilderness First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, is required.
  • Experience working with diverse populations: multi-cultural, age, gender, etc. 
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
