Manager of Accounting and Tax

The Head of Accounting and Tax position is responsible for managing the operations of the corporate accounting function. Oversees the month-end close process, prepares periodic financial reports and supervises the work of staff accountants. Responsible to help assure that business transactions are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Corporate policies and procedures. In addition this role will have primary responsibility for federal, state and international tax accounting and income tax compliance. Also, responsibility to manage quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and disclosures.

 

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Management and direction of the accounting team that includes A/R, A/P, General Accounting, Tax and Treasury
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and support reports in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS for consolidation into foreign parent's financials
  • Formulate, review and strengthen the financial policies, procedures and internal control system to enhance the groups’ operational effectiveness. 
  • Maintain timely month, quarter and year-end close out processes to support the foreign parent company's closing schedule
  • Provide financial analysis on consolidated financial results
  • Prepare internal P&L's for various business managers, including business performance data
  • Assist executive management in interpreting financial data and results. Serve as a financial/accounting liaison to external independent auditors, as well as parent company finance/accounting staff
  • Oversee the design, maintenance and testing of internal controls (GAAP and IFRS)
  • Oversee, prepare and deliver corporate income tax returns (federal and state) and manage retention of necessary documentation for audit
  • Oversee state sales and use tax preparations, as well as multi-jurisdiction business license compliance
  • Prepare and update Executive Leadership Team with finance related company initiatives
  • Oversee treasury management for bank credit, bond and guarantees, as well as manage bank relationships
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Coach and mentor the finance/accounting team
  • Must know Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, Operating and technical procedures and work instructions as it applies to the position.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance 8 - 10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • ERP, SAP experience a must
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Accounting for manufacturing company a must
  • Cost accounting knowledge and experience preferred
  • Experience with multi-currency transactions is a plus
  • Demonstrated aptitude for anticipating business needs, evaluating business requirements and effectively leading the organization with cost effective support
  • Strong leader with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks Deadline-oriented and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of management
