We are seeking a motivated professional to join our Client Accounting Services team as an Accounting Manager.  This position is responsible for managing the Client Accounting Services department as well as doing hands-on accounting and working directly with clients.  This position will be managing multiple individuals.  This position will work closely with the Partner in developing the Client Accounting Services department including identifying process and procedures, tools and software, etc.  The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.  This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.  The Accounting Manager will have direct contact with multiple clients at multiple levels including upper management and owners which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present to clients
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial statements
  • Analyze financial information and summarize the financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Developing a professional and responsible relationship with the client through quality delivery and timely communications
  • Research and continue education in all areas of accounting and technology used internally and by clients
  • Produce and support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as researching and resolving complex accounting issues
  • Generates standard and non-standard reports, analyzes general ledger activity to resolve outstanding issues
  • Communicates with various departments to resolve issues as needed
  • Ensures compliance with company accounting policies and the application of GAAP
  • Recommends process improvements to enhance controls and efficiencies within all responsibilities

Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field required
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree (Masters in Accountancy) preferred
  • Professional certification - Certified Public Account (CPA) required
  • Seven (7) or more years’ experience in accounting/financial management, including experience in a wide variety of general accounting functions required
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience working with outsourced accounting operations preferred
  • QuickBooks Certifications preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger software packages including QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage, and Xero
  • Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
  • Experience utilizing industry standard accounting software such as Bill.com, Expensify, Dext preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understands the finance and accounting functions generally performed by a business (e.g. sales, purchasing, A/R, etc.) and common best practices/processes for how they operate, as well as how they interact; understands other business imperatives/functions (e.g. data security, internal controls, etc.) and how they can affect the finance and accounting functions; uses this knowledge to analyze the current structure of a client and identify what services or processes may be inefficient or missing and where we can add value
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills
  • GAAP knowledge, financial statement presentation, and report writing
  • Solid organizational skills especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously, while focusing on quality, customer satisfaction and service delivery
  • Ability to act as the primary contact on assigned engagements and effectively manage a team of professionals including delegating work assignments as needed
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of professionals and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel, while delegating work assignments as needed
