Business Analyst

The business analyst is responsible for providing analysis and correlations throughout the business. They will ensure operations, finance, sales and leadership are provided accurate and timely reporting.  Will work closely with management for mapping and identification of process improvement.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain product costs for new and existing products. Compile yield test results and compute weekly standard and weighted average market prices for all the beef primal, trim and offal products produced and sold in the beef plant.
  • Analyze actual daily production results as compared to standard and prior daily and weekly actuals and report on sales, production (yield and labor variances) and usage variances as it relates to beef production and materials usage.
  • Create detailed budget database and templates, including budget analysis dashboard reporting.
  • Assist in development of zero-based budget
  • Manage individual material costing model for comprehensive sales and operations analysis
  • Validate and improve labor reporting processes and analysis
  • Automate claims reporting
  • Work with pricing and sales to determine means for evaluating margin
  • Write Visual Basic (or similar) code to automate daily market and internal reporting
  • Assist in annual budgeting process by creating projections and scenarios
  • Create necessary sales reporting and customer analysis
  • Maintain and improve entry process for customer profit and loss model
  • Work with Aspen Canopy ERP software and IT support to provide and streamline standard cost development and updates and lot cost inventory valuations
  • Reconcile and roll forward daily perpetual inventory and address causes for variances.
  • Participate in the annual budget and ongoing weekly estimates and forecast updates.
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Assist with internal and external financial and operational audits.
  • Train, supervise and develop Cost Analyst Assistant.
  • Other projects as assigned.


  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Office applications, with extensive focus in Excel and Visual Basics for Applications.
  • Understanding of Qlikview and/or Tableua applications a benefit.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must.
  • Understanding of analysis process and financial impact to business.
  • Attention to detail and ability to detect issues and resolve discrepancies in data and reporting.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and influence others.
  • All pre-employment qualifications, including a credit and criminal background check.
  • BS in Accounting or equivalent field.
  • Aspen Canopy ERP experience and SQL and data reporting software a plus.
