Purpose of Classification
Performs clerical work in administrative support of assigned clinic. Duties include providing nutrition assessments and counseling; entering data into automated systems, verifying data and processing transactions. Positions in this class perform routine analysis and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer questions; and maintain documents and records.
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Ensures the delivery of the program services are performed followed by federal, state and county; promotes and provides nutrition services as well as planning, coordinating, evaluating clinical records, and breastfeeding support to participants of the clinic.
Counsels clients and audits files; selects and issues WIC Food Packages and Risk Codes; maintains weekly formula inventory log and returned formula inventory.
Counsel clients and assesses any nutritional risks they may have; assists mothers, infants and children applying to the program because of food/ nutrition insecurity.
Reviews immunization records to determine immunization status; requests and documents dietary intake and perform diet assessment when necessary; calculates and graphs BMI.
Counsels and provides clients with breastfeeding information, provides and educates on usage of breast pumps and promote breastfeeding. Breastfeeding pump issuance, inventory control, retrieval, assembly, use, and cleaning
Provides assistance and information to employees, managers, vendors, citizens, local businesses, and/or and other interested parties regarding assigned clinic functions; serves as liaison between supervisors, vendors, and other departments in regards to infirmary policies and activities. Explains policies and procedures.
Prepares various documents requiring knowledge of department policies, programs, and procedures and which may involve researching, compiling, analyzing, retrieving and/or summarizing data.
Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Nutrition or health related field; supplemented by one (1) year of experience performing nutrition counseling and/or patient care work in a clinical setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
