Job Description

The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining all networks, systems, and server applications. The Network Administrator shall administrate upgrade and updates, and ensure new systems properly integrate with existing systems. This person shall work with all the other staff to ensure that the department is properly using and teaching the use of the systems.


Primary responsibilities for the Network Administrator: All computer systems within the business

  • Expert understanding of Windows Systems. This knowledge must include: Active Directory, Windows Files Server Permissions, Group Policies, Virtual Machine Management, and other Microsoft Products. Also, a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Setup and maintenance of all the companies’ firewalls, routers, switches, and network devices. Work with the network service providers
  • Patch and update systems within CAU’s network.
  • Develop and maintain backup systems.
  • Virus and Spam protection
  • Able to quickly learn applications and implement new applications.
  • Able to install, terminate and troubleshoot ethernet network cabling.
  • Able to setup and operate various types of audio/video equipment.
  • Developing and adhering to all security protocols and policies.
  • Able to build interdepartmental relationships and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assessing current and future technology needs in support of developing and implementing a strategy and roadmap for a rational approach to IS that aligns CAU’s systems, projects and technology support with the business objectives.
  • Ability to effectively communication, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work independently. Exceptional troubleshooting skills and a high level of attention to detail.


The successful candidate will have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in a computer related field AND at least THREE (3) years experience actively working as a Network/Systems Administrator of large networks with multiple locations. This would include years of progressive information technology experience coupled with significant exposure to the educational market. This individual will be recognized as much as a business person as an IS professional, adept at developing strategies and plans, communicating effectively across multiple constituencies (home office, school and technical staff), managing projects as well as expectations, and building an accountable, customer focused organization.
