Job Description
We are hiring Data Center and Services Manager - 100% onsite for a Full Time position in Anchorage, AK
JOB SUMMARY: Under limited supervision and in close collaboration with other Health Information Technology (HIT) teams, defines the evolution of Data Center infrastructure, including servers, storage & backup, operating systems and databases, disaster recovery and high availability solutions, tailored for the HIT 24x7 operations, in the most cost efficient and strategic manner. Acts as liaison between the internal IT organization, technical integration teams, as well as related services providers. Develops and implements processes to help ensure HIT technical roadmap is in alignment with customer needs. Supervises data center staff; and ensures reliability and security of the data center, systems and assists with regulatory compliance.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Own the Datacenter (cloud and on-premises): Responsible as the service owner for the datacenter. Manages and directs the technical design, development, implementation and maintenance of the Data Center for a large complex integrated network of systems
Datacenter Architecture: Understand and support the organization s technical architecture and growth while adhering to industry best practices in a complex environment. To ensure the availability, reliability and security of systems through a structured, proactive approach that balances risk for the security and seamless integration with the storage, servers, disaster recovery and high availability. Be a subject matter expert for a variety of technology projects with an emphasis on data center, network technology and security.
Improve the Infrastructure: Provide leadership and functional direction to the datacenter team. Oversee the operations of on-premises and cloud-based technology infrastructure including servers and storage, virtualization, infrastructure and network security and operating systems support. Participates in IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization. Based on overall organization s direction, develops short and long-term vision for technology datacenter and infrastructure design that ensures high service levels are achieved. Utilize system monitoring and controls to ensure overall system availability and reliability.
Responsible for Problem Management of the Datacenter Infrastructure: Responsible for problem management of the datacenter environment in response to issues raised to the team. Analyzes functionality, compatibility, stability and security of hardware, storage, data and systems. Utilizes and enforces industry proven best practice standards and procedures for systems troubleshooting, to include design, testing, configuration management, disaster recovery and documentation. Reviews technical documentation and provides quality assurance on all aspects of hardware and systems. Acts as a liaison between technical teams and customer to manage business and customer expectations. Leads the datacenter team to ensure compliance with information and IT security, ITIL (IT infrastructure Library) standardized support and service delivery processes.
Responsible for Change of the Datacenter Environment: Provides availability, capacity, problem, and service continuity management for all system managed under HIT support responsibility. Utilizes effective control mechanisms to minimize changes in the environment. Coordinates, communicates, and adheres to approved change management practices to implement design changes. Develops, implements, and maintains standards and procedures used to train staff, improve customer service support, and maintain a common operating environment. Develops technical material and documentation to track design and changes. Provides planning schedules and develops resource scheduling to meet business goals.
Work effectively with staff and HIT departments: Train and evolve staff to a high quality, innovative and customer-oriented team in support of all corporate and departmental strategic objectives. Research, develop, establish, and maintain innovative solutions. Establish and enforce procedures and standards that ensure the quality, integrity, security and availability of the network, application, and data services. Develop statistical/data reporting capabilities through the collection of production system and performance analysis. Review and assess vendor proposals; prepare and monitor project plans ensuring consistency and quality of project. Utilize effective budgeting analysis to control costs.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
Demonstrated expert experience in managing an enterprise corporate environment with a minimum of five hundred (500) Microsoft Windows Servers using industry standards and methodologies.
Demonstrated expert experience in best practices in the configuration, deployment, and upkeep of cloud- based virtual servers.
Demonstrated expertise in standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning equipment.
Demonstrated expert experience in best practices with Microsoft Servers
Demonstrated expert experience in best practices and management of storage resources (both block-level and NAS) containing 750TB of data.
Knowledge and / or experience of physical - IT security
Experience with capacity planning, preferably at a server and data center level
Experience with major Networking manufacturer equipment in an enterprise environment
Knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, administrative orders and other operational guidelines and directives.
Knowledge of Server clusters to include File and SQL Servers
Knowledge of the principles and practices of cost accounting and budgeting.
Knowledge of ITIL (IT infrastructure library).
Skill in effectively managing and leading staff, and delegating tasks and authority.
Skill in assessing, analyzing, and implementing solutions to complex problems.
Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
Skill in working within deadlines to complete projects and assignments.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other employees.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
Skill in managing interpersonal relationships.
Skill in being a positive, contributing member of a division leadership team.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory Eight (8) years of network and/or systems administration experience in an organization with at least 1000 users and 500 servers. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
AND
Supervisory Three (3) years involving employee supervision.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Management of large scale data centers, Azure or AWS environment for server deployment
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Datacenter related certification
Industry hardware vendor certification
