Job Description

The Mechanical Designer (Supplies and Accessories) is responsible for performing a variety of engineering assignments in support of research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic and mechanical medical device supplies and accessories for the Cadwell product line. This position is located at company headquarters in Kennewick, WA.


Key Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains design, manufacturing, and regulatory documentation including BOMs, change requests, system specifications, and sterility validations for medical device supplies and accessories
  • Performs the design of mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies
  • Participates in the performance of environmental, structural, and other analysis and testing of products to meet regulatory specifications and product requirements
  • Tracks and performs lifecycle maintenance of many supplies and accessories products concurrently
  • Participates in technical presentations and maintains current understanding of industry trends and technical developments within target markets
  • Performs other duties as requested

Education / Experience:

  • Mechanical design experience required
  • 2+ years of experience in related field preferred
  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
  • Experience with the manufacture of disposable and durable medical device accessories preferred

Job Knowledge / Requirements:

  • Advanced computer and SolidWorks proficiency required
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, additive manufacturing, machining, and other common manufacturing techniques
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and can positively adapt to changing requirements, deadlines, and priorities
  • Works successfully both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively track and complete many small tasks concurrently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills before both small and large groups to clearly communicate highly technical information
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to provide timely technical assistance to other team members
  • Capacity to keep abreast of state-of-the-art product offerings and new technology trends and familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical field
  • Requires the following physical activities: reaching bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, color vision and talking

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

  • General office positions may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, color vision and 2-way written/verbal communication. More specific details may be provided as needed or requested.
  • Extensive use of computer and telephone
  • Work assigned shifts to cover department hours of 6:30am-5:00pm; mandatory overtime may be required to meet business needs
