Certified Medical Assistant [$17-21]

General Summary: Responsible for assisting medical staff in performing clinical and administrative tasks to support the clinical workflow, under the direction of the practice administrator and or the physician.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Work collaboratively with physicians and other health team members to coordinate the patient care activities.
  2. Assist in performing exams, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor medical procedures.
  3. Helps licensed medical provider to gather medical history information and taking vital signs.
  4. Provides patient education materials and communicates physician advice/instructions to patients.
  5. Prepare and administer single dose oral medication as ordered by the physician for immediate self-administration. Administers medication, excluding IV, as ordered by the physician
  6. Perform simple laboratory tests and screenings
  7. Documents medications dispensed/prescribed, and test result in medical records.
  8. Helps stock department equipment and supplies.
  9. Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control. Perform sterilization technique. Comply with quality assurance practices.
  10. Scheduling and authorization for imaging studies; CT, MRI, Bone Scan’s.

Performance Requirements:


  1. Comprehension of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies and functions.
  2. Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment. Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening.
  3. Familiar with documentation standards.
  4. Awareness of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.
  5. Knowledge of body mechanics.


  1. Skill in appropriately taking vital signs, phlebotomy ( can train right candidate).
  2. Skill in maintaining a clutter-free, organized exam area.
  3. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, and customer service.
  4. Read, comprehend and follow verbal and written physician orders. To perform simple mathematical calculations for drug dosages.
  5. Capable of working in a fast-paced clinical environment, able to handle several tasks at one time, and remain calm under pressure.


  • successful completion of state-approved medical assistant training program; minimum 160 hours of supervised clinical training or similar office experience.
  • Minimum of one year patient-care experience preferred.
  • Office experience preferred.
