TITLE: Electrical Engineer- Sr.

MINIMUM CLEARANCE LEVEL: SECRET

CITIZENSHIP: US Citizenship

LOCATION: Oakland, CA

The United States Coast Guard has a requirement for logistics support services in SFLC Engineering Branch for Electrical Engineering Services, Mechanical Engineering Services. The Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC), Ice Breaker, Buoy, and Construction Tender Product Line (IBCTPL), Engineering Branch, is responsible for the management of Engineering and Logistics for all assigned assets. for maintenance support services in the Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) Ice Breaker, Buoy and Construction Tender Product Line (IBCT PL).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop instructions, drawings, and technical specifications for repair, modification, maintenance, and testing of existing and new systems with many component pieces of equipment on vessels.
  • Troubleshoot and develop a logical course of action to determine the cause of problems or instabilities within assigned systems.
  • Review and recommend changes to electrical designs and specifications prepared by others.
  • Prepare maintenance, repair, and modification specifications, developing Time Compliant Technical Orders (TCTOs) as appropriate to implement Engineering Changes
  • Redesign any part of the system as necessary, prescribe changes in materials used, or prescribe new calibration procedures for a wide variety of systems.
  • Draft contract specifications and prepare statements of work for engineering and technical services.

  • Transform technical concepts and procedures into readable, logical, and grammatically correct technical specifications.
  • Collect data and provide written technical briefings and reports.
  • Prepare new and modify existing AutoCAD drawings.
  • Read, interpret, and analyze complex electrical and electronic systems diagrams and drawings.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in electrical engineering from an educational institution's electrical engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Experience in electrical engineering related calculations required to design modifications and perform repairs to electrical systems, machinery, and shipboard electrical equipment. Knowledge of engineering disciplines such as naval architecture, structural engineering, and mechanical engineering is required due to their close relationship to electrical systems aboard vessels.
  • Experience with electrical systems safety practices and procedures for equipment operating up to 460 volts. Some familiarity with typical shipboard equipment.
