BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR – ENERGY STORAGE Help us grow our renewable energy business nationally through a focus on the energy storage market. Specifically, we are looking for a driven individual who has technical expertise as well as sales experience in the energy storage field and who is capable of shaping and growing CS Energy’s energy storage business. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who will own the entire sales cycle from opportunity identification to sales close.

We are actively pursuing distributed and utility-scale energy storage projects in both stand-alone storage and renewables-plus-storage use cases. The candidate will plan, coordinate, prioritize, monitor and evaluate sales opportunities and must be a creative problem-solver with an ability to combine technical expertise, commercial knowledge, and relationship building to originate and close opportunities. This includes a comfort with a variety of client types and a range of experience delivering different project types to establish processes and standard operating procedures.

Finally, the candidate will also need to be proficient with the economics of energy storage and project financial models. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pursue existing and prospective customers through networking, cold-calling, and conferences to evaluate opportunities for future energy storage opportunities. Work with our existing Business Development Team to mine CS Energy’s existing customer database to evaluate opportunities for future storage sales. Develop deep and meaningful relationships with existing as well as prospective customers Effectively communicate CS Energy’s value proposition to existing and prospective customers to consistently identify CS Energy’s value to our customers and what differentiates us in the industry. Evaluate market information, identify target geographies and opportunity types, and develop and execute strategies to successfully grow our energy storage business. Maintain a working expertise on policy, rate design, and incentives in all relevant markets to ensure we are pursuing opportunities in the most efficient and effective way possible. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how distributed and/or utility-scale energy storage can qualitatively and quantitatively benefit both the customers and utilities as both a stand-alone solution and integrated with other renewable technologies. Develop detailed financial models to determine the economic benefits of specific storage projects, taking into consideration various revenue sources, capex, opex, and other technical assumptions. Work closely with CS Energy’s engineering, estimating, and marketing teams in developing industry leading proposals. Negotiate contracts as applicable for each project. Coordinate with project managers to seamlessly integrate energy storage into renewable energy or traditional energy design-build projects Requirements 6+ years’ of experience in technical and commercial roles in energy storage, other renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, or energy/sustainability solutions sales. Extensive knowledge of the broader energy ecosystem, utility rate structures and various influencers and stakeholders Solid understanding engineering principles, distributed energy resources, electrical design and the renewable energy development processes (from project origination, to development, financing, Engineering, Procurement & Construction, and operation). Existing relationships and proven results in the direct sale of energy storage, renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, and/or other energy products, solutions or services. Experience serving utility, commercial, industrial, federal, and institutional clients. Ability to develop and manage strategic relationships and/or joint ventures. Exceptional professional communication and presentation skills, both written and oral. Ability to multi-task and manage effectively and accurately in a deadline-driven, challenging environment. Self-motivated, independent problem solver and creative thinker with exceptional follow through and the highest levels of integrity and trust across all customer interactions.
