Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the smooth and reliable operations of the companys infrastructure, software and systems. Implements, maintains and upgrades systems infrastructure components for CRICO applications, development projects and other IT initiatives. Provides 3rd level support for escalated systems issues.

  • Manage and oversee the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and administration of IT infrastructure services, including, servers, storage to achieve availability, performance, and security objectives
  • Improves departmental efficiency using automation tools and scripting
  • Responds to and resolves escalated problems pertaining to all application hardware and software products supported by IT in a timely manner
  • Analyzes trends and proposes improvements in infrastructure support practices, infrastructure components, and recommends application of new and innovative technologies to provide a high level of service to the business
  • Applies the highest customer service standards to all interactions with clients including prompt response, clear communication, follow-up and follow-through, understanding and anticipating the clients needs
  • Coordinates activities of infrastructure vendors to ensure timely and complete resolution of systems issues
  • Coordinates with development teams and outside vendors as needed to help define, estimate and complete infrastructure requirements for IT projects
  • Works effectively as a member of a project team to deliver project deliverables on time and with high quality
  • Solid background of fundamental security principles as it applies to networking, Windows server and desktop platforms, and firewalls
  • Performs root cause analysis of systems issues and strives to identify trends and opportunities to improve the stability and usability of CRICOs infrastructure and applications
  • Develop and maintain hardware and software configurations and other procedural documentation to be included in teams knowledge base, such as DRP
  • Performs advanced system administration functions for applications and infrastructure components Performs other related duties as required by position


  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability managing medium scale technical projects involving multiple technical teams with minimal oversight
  • Working knowledge with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including commonly used compute, storage, database, network, and security services
  • Experience managing an enterprise backup platform VEEAM preferred
  • 3+ years of Microsoft 365 platform management
  • Vendor management
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows 10, PC hardware and networking concepts
  • Extensive knowledge and experience managing a Microsoft enterprise infrastructure including AD, AZURE AD, DNS and group policy etc.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with application infrastructure components such as, SQL Server, Windows server, IIS and Apache Tomcat
  • Extensive knowledge in VMware virtualization stack technologies and VMware Cloud (VMC)
  • Solid real-world experience supporting and managing server monitoring platforms such as Systems Center Operations Manager or other
  • Solid and demonstrated experience with automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform etc.
  • Solid understanding of remote access technologies such as Citrix and VPN
  • Solid understanding and experience with security components such as Next Generation Endpoint protections, secure web gateways and web application firewalls
  • Flexibility to provide after-hours support on rotational basis
  • Excellent customer service awareness, orientation and follow through
